Second, a specific shout out to the Puma Varsity Boys, whose cumulative team time of 81:36 establishes them as the 15th fastest all-time team at Spring Lake, and 4th fastest ever Carrillo team.  (time gap between 5 scoring runners was 0:52) . This was made possible by some very respectable PRs today from Gus, Daniel, James, Austin, and Jose. (Gus' 15:52 makes him the 47th fastest ever on the course and Jose's time of 16:46 moves him to 16th fastest ever freshman).  This team is on a good trajectory to break into the top 10 all time by season's end.

Finally,  here is Greg's take on the meet...
Overall = MCHS sweeps competition with wins all-around, Varsity Girls + JV Boys + JV Girls = score a “perfect 15” vs. Piner and Elsie Allen to open against 2009 NBL competition!

Varsity Girls = Extending their NBL undefeated streak to 86-0 (assuming last year = 6 year x 14 wins each season = 84 wins?) with solid performances all around, even missing some of our key runners.   (scoring gap was 0:39!) Great PRs for TJ, Lauren K, Heidi and Sophia; Sophia really stepped-up to compete in her first varsity race = last minute change, since Sarah Thompson was sick!    …We expect this team to continue improving through-out the season and is very capable of reaching the #5 all-time Redwood Empire team time #5 mark = #3 all-time Maria Carrillo team!

JV Boys = With 24 MCHS runners dominating the field of 35, MCHS JV Boys swept the top 10 spots; also placed 15 in the top 17 places.   -Worthy of noting = our top JV Boys are showing lots of depth up front, with 11 runners within 1:05 (gap of 5 scoring runners a terrific 0:27!)   Also noteworthy, our top JV Boys were very close to SRHS varsity #7 and Rancho’s varsity #1 runner!    Big PRs highlights: Drew Gallagher (1:37), Austin Lynch (1:17), Tyler Jones (1:00) and Schuyler Mortimer (:54)!

JV Girls = Solid performances from the whole crew = Sydney leading the way for her first win; great support from the rest including Jessica, Brittney, Maddie, Carolyn, Jamaeca and Desiree all contributing.   Special recognition to Kelly Birkland + Ashley Gunderson for showing us all they’ve overcome their injuries with big PRs!
