WEDNESDAY, 9/25:  NBL/SCL Interlock #2 at Shollenberger Park, Petaluma

Logistics:  Dismiss from School 1:45 PM, Bus leaves 2 PM
Race Time: Boys race 3:45 PM, Girls race 4:15 or 4:30 PM

PARKING: Parking is very tight at Shollenberger especially because one of the nearby parking lots is being used by a company that has been expanded. You may need to park on one of the nearby cross streets - Corporate Circle, Cader Lane or Fisher Dr. Make sure you check  for no parking signs

IMPORTANT!  -RUNNERS NEED TO BRING $40:   To reduce expenses for this trip, athletes need to bring $40 to cover lunch and dinner on Friday + lunch on Sunday (we'll pick up lunch and dinner for Saturday and breakfast is free at our Hotel).  


Friday, 9/20: 8:30 AM leaving MCHS in 4 Vans > 7 hrs drive time + 40 minutes stopping for lunch and gas > arrive at Hotel ~4:30 > shake-out run 5:00 or 5:30 > Dinner 6:30 > Back to Hotel 10PM quite time
Saturday, 9/21: Sleep in but catch [free] breakfast 9AM > late morning or afternoon activity TBD > RACE! > Dinner > back in Hotel 10:30PM-ish
Sunday, 9/22: Sleep in again > breakfast > hit the road by no later than 10AM > expect to be back at MCHS by 6:30 Sunday

HOTEL (Friday + Saturday night stay): Quality Inn & Suites at Lake Forest 

-Results should be posted just moments after each race!

MCHS to Co-Host meet at Spring Lake this Wednesday, 9/18!  (first race 3:45!)  

REMINDER for those who signed up to help: Need to be at the Spring Lake Boat Dock (XC Starting Line) by 2:45 Katya Anderson and Steve Palladino will assign responsibilities for the finish chute and timing; don't worry, it's easy!

2013 Ed Sias Course Change: Please note that due to the renovation of Hidden Valley Park, this year's event will be staged at Hidden Lakes Park, on Morello Avenue, Martinez.  The soccer field will be used for the start and finish and the open space trails will be used for the remainder of the 2.0 mile course.

LOGISTICS FOR VIKING OPENER (with Coach Sheryl and Matt):

-IMPORTANT FOR ALL MCHS XC ATHLETES:  -Be there 1 hour before your race!  ...Plan ~15 minutes to park/walk to Spring Lake Starting Line, plan to stay for awards ceremony at 1PM

7:45 AM: Coaches arrive and set-up home base canopy, tarps and MCHS XC Banner
8:00 AM: First 5 MCHS XC runners should be arriving for Boys Frosh race at 9:00
8:20 AM: Next 5 MCHS XC runners arrive for Girls Frosh-Soph race at 9:20
8:45 AM: Next 5 MCHS XC runners arrive for Boys Soph race at 9:45
9:00 AM: Everyone else arrives (even if your in the last race at 12:05!) get your race tags and relax :)

Please make sure participants know that the park is not closed to other visitors.  When on the trails students shall be mindful of other users and abide by trail etiquette.  When congregating before and after runs, students shall be careful not to block vehicle or pedestrian traffic and choose an appropriate gathering place off the roadway and off of trails.

PARKING AND PARKING FEES:  Parking for all meets shall be at the Oak Knolls picnic area.  This includes parking for buses, spectators and all athletes.  Only race officials, coaches and those with valid handicap placards may park at the Boat Ramp.  Fees are waived for coaches, athletes and course officials only.  The above named individuals must display a 3x5 card with the school name written in large block letters clearly visible on the dashboard of their vehicle to enter without being charged.  These cards are not transferable to any other person; however, a parent driving participating athletes in the vehicle may display the pass.  Spectators and parents without an athlete in the vehicle and remaining more than 15 minutes are required to pay the day use parking fee of $7.00 per vehicle.  Parents without an athlete in the car who are just picking someone up must pay the day use parking fee.  This fee may be refunded if they leave the park within a 15-minute period.

MCHS XC Rancho Invite: Impressive Results!


...Most EVERYONE hit target paces for first two miles showing great discipline and control, finishing strong with great kicks!    -72 MCHS XC athletes competing (no team scores recorded for this meet, but we would have done well ;)

No meet this week but the following Saturday, September 14th, we're splitting squads for the ED SIAS INVITE (Martinez) and the VIKING OPENER (Spring Lake):

-Ed Sias Rosters to be announced Tuesday: (Taking 4 teams: Varsity Girls/Boys + Frosh-Soph Girls/Boys)
THANK-YOU PARENTS AND COACHES for volunteering to drive to Martinez, since we cannot afford the bus expense!

-Viking Opener features 8 different races!

ATHLETES:  Yes, you can wear your racing flats next race!   ...But please bring them to practice; you need to do strides in them this week and next week.

REMINDER:  We're still in need of funds for this season!   ...Athletes: Please keep collecting Pledges (Greg will have more Pledge Sheets at practice)
